Students Speak About Their ABC Experiences

Nov 6th, 2010

Students from all campuses and schools of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham have begun participating in the Amala Bharatam Campaign begun by their beloved Chancellor Amma. Students share their thoughts on what it is like to strive for a Clean India.

Gowtham, B.Tech. (Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering)

“We and all our friends enjoyed the ABC. Surely if we continue, we will make our India Clean & Green. We are proud to be part of this program.”

Geetha Sreeja, B.Tech. (Electronics and Communication Engineering)

“When I gave my name for this ABC program, I thought, it was just for a good cause; I felt it’s not going to be a tough job. But this field work has made me realize the real significance of the job we have done. I am really proud to be a part of this work. I have decided never ever to throw waste papers here and there.”

A. Sureshkumar, M.Tech. (Biotechnology)

“The work which we have done is just only a beginning. No one can clean the whole city in one day. We have just created an awareness among people. We tried to spread the news to everyone. We enjoyed the whole day and we have got some inner happiness, because we have also contributed to cleanliness.”

Suja S Chandran, M.B.A

It was a great experience for me. In this modern era, most of our youth shows reluctance towards these types of activities. We should have the self-awareness that these wastes are produced by us only. So we are responsible for cleaning it and also for minimizing its production in the future. We have to dump waste in the waste box provided for that. Most bacterial and viral infections and diseases are caused due to contamination, so we have to dispose contaminated waste in safe places, away from human survival. Also we have to choose the safest method of disposal based on the nature of the waste.

This campaign helped me to think seriously on this basis. I think the majority will be inspired and act based on this to fulfill Amma’s dream and creating a clean India free from wastes.
