10 Years of Amrita

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was conferred with the status of “University” by the Government of India on January 13th , 2003. In 2009,  Amrita was given an ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for all its campuses and programs and was ranked in the “Ivy league of Indian Universities” along with institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai.

  • Has established 5 campuses, 15 schools, and 150+ programs
  • Has 18,000 students and 1,750 teaching faculty, 600 of which possess PhDs/DMs
  • Has a faculty-student ratio of 1:10
  • Has received and/or filed for 40 major patents and inventions
  • 250+ companies and organizations have recruited and employed Amrita graduates
  • Has received 150 awards and recognitions
  • Has conducted 11 international conferences
  • Has 20 Centers of Excellence in Research
  • Has recruited 29 international adjunct faculty from various organizations and institutions around the world and has had over 500 distinguished visiting lecturers including Nobel Laureates Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Dr. Martin Chalfie, and Dr. Leland Hartwell
  • Has extensive engagement and tie-ups with over 76 international universities in the U.S., Europe, Australia, and Japan
