“Protecting nature is as important as protecting one’s own mother.” – AMMA
Initiated by Chancellor Amma to inspire young people to restore Mother India’s natural beauty, the Amala Bharatham Campaign has become a shining example of engaging in selfless service activities that promote environmental conservation. Students, faculty, and staff at Amrita University have actively participated in several projects that help restore the harmony that exists between man and nature. In November 2013, over 3,400 students, faculty, and staff enthusiastically took part in the fifth edition of the Sabarimala clean-up drive, a massive effort that takes place every year. In the recent clean-up effort, a total of 15,000 bags of garbage were collected from the shrine complex and the surrounding foothills.
