Satyanarayana, Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (Deity), Government of India presented the award at Visakhapatnam on 14 December, 2013.
Dr. Shantanu Bhowmik, Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering, Head of Research at the Amrita School of Engineering (Coimbatore), won the prestigious Marie Curie Research Award from the European Union’s 7th Framework Program in November 2013. Dr. Bhowmik was also awarded the prestigious research award, Brain Pool Korea, from the Korean Government, in July 2013.
Prof. Shasi K. Kottayil chaired a conference session on Large Wind Generation and Integration in November 2013. The international conference was hosted by IEEE Innovative Smart Grid Technologies – Asia (ISGT Asia) in Bangalore, Karnataka.

Prof. Prashant R. Nair, Vice-Chairman of IT, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore, secured the Global Chapter Achievement Award from the IEEE Education Society in Oklahoma, USA in October 2013.
Dr. Shantikumar Nair received the prestigious National Research Award from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. Every year, this award is bestowed upon only one scientist in the entire country. Dr. Nair received the award for his spectacular contributions to the emerging field of Nanosciences and Nanotechnology.

The Chapter Achievement Award recognized the IEEE Education Society, INDIA Chapter, as one that provides exemplary technical activities, membership services, and societal activities to its members.
Dr. Sanjeev K. Singh, Senior Medical Administrator at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, was selected as a SHEA (Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America) Ambassador from India. This honor is conferred on the ten best professionals in the world that specialize in the control and management of infectious diseases.
Dr. Aswathy S., Professor, Department of Community Medicine, Amrita School of Medicine, won an International Award from the Asian Collaboration for Excellence in Non-Communicable Diseases (ASCEND) group for her editorial on Peer Support as a Strategy for Effective Management of Diabetes in India, published in the Indian Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism in early 2013.
Dr. Shantikumar Nair, Professor and Director, Amrita Center for Nanosciences and Dean of Research, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, recently delivered an oral presentation at the largest international physics gathering in the world organized by the American Physical Society (APS). The congress convened in Denver, Colorado from April 13 -16, 2013.
Several senior faculty and doctors at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, have been conferred with Fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS).
Dr. Krishnakumar R., Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, was recently selected for two prestigious international travel fellowships. He became the first Indian citizen to receive the SICOT Danish Travelling Fellowship in Spine Surgery as well as the International Group for Advancement in Spinal Sciences (IGASS) International Travelling Fellowship, both within a span of one year.
Dr. S. Thirumalini became the second person from India to be honored with the SAE Ralph R. Teetor Educational Award.
Dr. K. K. Haridas was conferred the title of Fellow of Royal College of Physicians in Dublin, Ireland.
Prof. Sudhakar Achath was awarded the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) International Distinguished Service Award.
