The Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) was declared the Best Hospital in the Country for the betterment of healthcare by the Federation of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) in December 2013. Dr. Prem Nair, Medical Director of AIMS, accepted the award on behalf of the hospital.

Amrita Center for Wireless Networks and Applications, received the 2012 NABARD Innovation Prize for contributions towards rural development in India. The Center was chosen for its successful deployment of a Real-Time Wireless Sensor Network Landslide Monitoring and Detection System in Munnar, Kerala. Dr. Maneesha V. Ramesh, director of the Center, accepted the award on behalf of AmritaWNA.

Amrita CREATE achieved a significant milestone with the endorsement of Online Labs (OLabs) by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). CBSE has recommended OLabs to all 14,500 schools in India that are affiliated with the board. Over 1,500 schools are currently using the OLabs.

The Computer Society of India’s (CSI) national-level IT Excellence Awards for Education & E-learning was awarded to the Amrita Center for Research in Advanced Technologies for Education (CREATE). Amrita CREATE’s entry for the project, “Online Labs for School Experiments (OLabs) for Rural Schools”, won the top prize after an exhaustive three tier jury selection process. AMRITA received the award from Shri J. Satyanarayana, Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (Deity), Government of India at on 14 December, 2013.

Amrita hosted the prestigious ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) for the 9th consecutive year in December 2013. Administrators from the program’s headquarters in the U.S. extended its congratulations to Amrita, claiming that it was “the largest contest site in the world” and had “the highest number of teams in the competition’s history.”

Amrita hosted the 2013 edition of Aspiration 2020, a national level online programming contest in which approximately 83,000 students from 400 engineering colleges participated. The objective of the contest was to promote and encourage young talent in the field of computer programming.

A-VIEW (Amrita Virtual Interactive e-Learning World) has been bestowed with Computer World Honors Laureate 2012 by Computer World Magazine (USA) under the Training and Education category for developing A-VIEW in June 2012.

A-VIEW won the award for educational excellence in the field of Educational Technology at the Indo-Global Educational Summit and Expo in September 2012.

Amrita University will host ACM’s ICPC world finals in 2016.
